Capacity building on trade promotion program for MMAF

Swisscontact’s Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) supported the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia (MMAF) at the Seafood Expo Global (SEG) trade fair 2019 in Brussels, Belgium (May 7 to 9). SEG is is the world’s largest trade fair in the fisheries sector, with 1,940 exhibitors from 78 countries. At it’s country pavilion, MMAF promoted Indonesia fish and seafood sectors in the global market by showcasing 11 credible fish and seafood producers, 1 eatable seaweed producer and 1 pole and line tuna association.

During the event, SIPPO assisted the ministry in promoting Indonesia’s country pavilion to European importers starting from the preparation stage, during and after the trade fair. SIPPO also introduced the sustainable fish and seafood principle guidelines and FAO guideline to the MMAF representatives to enrich and compliment Indonesia’s sustainability fish and seafood practices.

As part of one of its important mandate, SIPPO has provided learning experiences and capacity building to MMAF staff in promoting Indonesia’s country pavilion to wider international importers and relevant fish and seafood stakeholders. SIPPO’s International expert also provided learning experience to the key representative of MMAF from the preparation to the after the fair follow up. SIPPO expects MMAF could organize and apply those knowledge in the forth coming MMAF's trade promotion event.
