With more than 170,000 trade visitors from 201 countries and around 7,500 exhibitors from 106  countries, the Anuga trade fair set new records and delivered on being the world’s largest trade fair for food and beverages.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Anuga took place from 5 – 9 October 2019, and focused on current industry trends and the latest innovations and concepts for the food of the future. Look out for industry trends such as  vegetarian and vegan, gluten and lactose-free, ready-to-go products and superfoods.

SIPPO supported the country pavilions of South Africa, Tunisia and Peru, whose Business Support Organisations (BSOs) collaborated closely with SIPPO to enable successful participation for their co-exhibitors at Anuga.

South Africa is recognised as a global player in this market, and the South African Pavilion at Anuga 2019 featured 40 co-exhibitors, who showcased the wide variety of quality food and beverage products produced in the country.

SIPPO at Anuga: supporting from the side-lines

In close collaboration with its South African partner BSOs, the dti, TIKZN and Wesgro, SIPPO transferred know-how and support for the preparation and successful participation in the trade fair.

With a diversified event programme facilitated by SIPPO, BSO representatives were able to meet counterparts from Serbia, Peru and Tunisia to explore opportunities for potential collaboration; participate in capacity-building activities - such as country pavilion and competitor analyses; participate in outbound visits to potential customers; and attend CBI’s Market Information Presentations to learn first-hand about export opportunities and trends for processed fruits, vegetables, edible nuts, grains, pulses and oilseeds.

SIPPO also facilitated opportunity for interactive sessions between BSO representatives and their SME companies with an international expert who shared tips and techniques on sales and communication. These sessions were highly appreciated and actively applied during the trade fair.
