Digitalisation – the SIPPO way

Digital transformation is advancing rapidly and is of great importance for the future of global trade and the SIPPO program. SIPPO therefore aims to become a fully integrated program that uses digitalization to improve its efficiency and effectiveness and to meaningfully integrate future digital innovations into its advisory activities.

Digitalisation – the SIPPO way

It is important to keep in mind that digitalization is much more than just its application in systems, processes and tools. "Digital" is a new way of doing things. The opportunities that digitization can open up for BSOs are manifold. However, smooth implementation and optimal use of the new technologies must be carefully planned.

That is why SIPPO's medium-term goal is to support partner Business Support Organizations (BSOs) in three areas of digitalisation: a) Development and delivery of digital export promotion services, b) organisational development through the effective use of digital tools and c) network and cooperation development to access digitalisation know-how.

Trade Promotion Academy, analysis tools, digital networking
Under aspect a) the Trade Promotion Academy has already become a strong pillar for SIPPO's capacity building activities. In the medium term until the end of Phase 2, further digital products such as digitally supported market transparency & analysis tools and tools for good knowledge sharing & digital networking will be developed.

Digitalisation of internal processes and consulting activities
Under aspect b) SIPPO is driving developments both within its own organization and together with BSOs to make greater use of the potential of digitalization for BSOs' internal processes and consulting activities vis-à-vis their customers. "Digital program management" is one element of these activities which will include an increasingly automated monitoring and results management, dashboards, and digital collaboration tools.

Incorporating digital platforms
Under aspect c) SIPPO supports BSOs that are joining digital platforms to connect them with relevant importer networks in Europe and Switzerland. SIPPO also facilitates the establishment of such platforms through the use of digital tools.

Relying on a network of consultants and specialists in the field of digitalization
Developments in the field of digitalization are advancing at an enormous pace. To keep up with this, SIPPO relies on a network of consultants specializing in the digitalisation of trade promotion services. External experts are currently working with SIPPO in several workshops to develop a clearer picture of the future digital strategy and the corresponding measures.

Because one thing is clear: SIPPO will not achieve its vision of sustainable and inclusive economic growth without the targeted use of digital tools.
