First International Study Tour at ITB Berlin Tourism Fair
SIPPO Peru supported PROMPERÚ in organizing a study tour for 13 SMEs from the tourism sector, participating for the first time in the international ITB Berlin fair.
From March 6th to 9th, the first international study tour took place in Berlin, Germany, with representatives from 13 medium and small tourism businesses coming from 5 regions of the country. The study tour was part of the Commercial Program offered by PROMPERÚ to strengthen the commercial skills of travel agencies and lodging establishments. The main purpose of this study tour was to prepare the participants for successful future participation as exhibitors in international tourism fairs.
The program of activities, developed in collaboration between SIPPO and PROMPERÚ, included inspection visits to tourism products in Berlin that offered non-traditional alternatives in the market. The aim of these visits was to encourage innovation and the creation of new tourism products among the participating companies.
Additionally, the study tour group engaged in various meetings with stakeholders from the European and German markets, receiving valuable information on trends, certifications, and success stories. The importance of working on sustainable tourism products was emphasized, with a focus not only on environmental conservation but also on the benefit of local communities.
Moreover, the Peruvian group took part in various conferences at the ITB Berlin Convention, enriching their knowledge on different issues and trends in the sector, such as adventure tourism, community-based tourism, big data, digital transformation, among others.
