Peruvian Cocoa Captivates Switzerland in Exclusive Tasting
Peruvian cocoa once again demonstrated why it is considered one of the most exceptional in the world during an exclusive tasting organized by AGROMERCADO in coordination with SIPPO.
The activity showcased six regional origins, highlighting the country’s extraordinary biodiversity and its strong potential to lead the global market for fine cocoa and premium chocolate.
The event was part of the official mission of the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa – SWISSCO, bringing together Swiss specialists and representatives from institutions committed to more sustainable, traceable, and competitive value chains.
Each sample presented by AGROMERCADO offered an opportunity to bring the Swiss chocolate industry—renowned for its high standards in quality, traceability, and sustainability—closer to Peruvian producers. The session, led by Vilsic Bocangel, cocoa specialist at AGROMERCADO – MIDAGRI, included sensory profiles, commercial insights, and export projections, reinforcing the potential of Peruvian cocoa in high-value markets.
The encounter featured key sector representatives, including Swiss companies such as Halba, Cocoasource, and Max Havelaar; the Association of Swiss Chocolate Manufacturers – Chocosuisse; the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa – SWISSCO; and the University of Bern. Additionally, representatives from the Embassy of Switzerland in Peru and Swisscontact executives reaffirmed their commitment to ethical and inclusive supply chains.
Peruvian cocoa is more than a product: it is identity, livelihood, and heritage. This initiative led by SIPPO and Swisscontact strengthens a future in which quality is rewarded, biodiversity is protected, and commercial relationships generate well-being for producers and ecosystems alike.
